For or more than a dozen years, the Cosumnes Legacy Foundation has been supporting quality-of-life services, focusing on programs and projects related to parks, recreation, fire protection and emergency medical care.

The Cosumnes Legacy Foundation is named for the Cosumnes River, the last free-flowing river within California’s Central Valley, that meanders through the heart of the foundation’s service area.

Under the direction of a highly-motivated Board of Directors, the Cosumnes Legacy Foundation is securing funds through private donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations seeking to create an enduring legacy in the community.

The Elk Grove Regional Veterans Memorial is a place to honor and memorialize veterans who have given their lives defending this country and our freedom and those who are living and are proud of their service and sacrifice.

The memorial is located in Elk Grove Park and serves as a place of meditation and quiet reflection for veterans and their families and a place where visitors can come pay their respect to all veterans, both living and deceased. It will also provide a venue for Veterans Day events.

Elk Grove residents in need of financial assistance to participate in recreation programs offered by the Cosumnes Community Services District Parks and Recreation Department can apply for scholarships through the Cosumnes Recreation Opportunity Fund.

The Chasing Birdies Golf Fund grants financial assistance for Elk Grove residents to participate in golf activities offered at Emerald Lakes Golf Course through Cosumnes Community Services District. This program gives children and adults in need lifelong learning through the game of golf, promote healthy habits and instill core values that can be carried on and off the golf course. Funds donated to those in need can cover classes, equipment, and league fees for season programs offered at Emerald Lakes Golf Course. Its success depends on continuous fundraising efforts through individual donations from our community.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides emergency preparedness and disaster response training to volunteers who would like to help their communities. The Elk Grove-Galt CERT program is sponsored by the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department, in partnership with the Elk Grove City Police Department and the Galt City Police Department. CERT educates volunteers about disaster preparedness through basic disaster response skills including: fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization, that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

The Cosumnes Fire Department saves lives and protects the community through prevention, preparedness, and emergency response in a timely, courteous, and effective manner. Our personnel strive to exceed expectations at all times. Our core values are: Integrity, Professionalism, Teamwork, Courage, and Service. These are the principles that guide our decisions and actions. The Cosumnes Fire Department is an all-risk, all-hazards fire department. We staff our engines, truck, and ambulances with well-trained personnel to deliver advanced life support emergency medical services and emergency response to fires, vehicle accidents, water rescue incidents, hazardous materials incidents, or any other type of response for which we may be called. We also provide outstanding non-emergency services such as public education, fire and life safety inspections, construction plan review, fire investigations, community risk reduction, and many other administrative functions. The Cosumnes Legacy Foundation has coupled with the Cosumnes Fire Department to seek funds from private, corporate, or governmental entities who have a shared vision in supporting fire and emergency medical services provided to the communities served by the Department. With your donation, the Foundation will be able to assist the Department in mitigating costs associated with personnel protective equipment, emergency medical services supplies, communication technology, and fire prevention efforts.

Opened in 2011, the bike park draws amateur adults, children and professional riders. The bike park is also the host of local BMX jump competitions. Donations to the Elk Grove Bike Park Fund will be used to maintain and improve this unique amenity.

Making Waves introduces youth to basic water safety skills through free swim lessons. Formal swimming lessons reduce the risk of drowning among children 1-4 years, by introducing lifesaving skill. Each child will receive everything they need to swim including: a towel, googles, swim suit and a swim lessons.

Elk Grove Park is home to a wide variety of ducks, geese and other waterfowl. These birds are enjoyed by thousands of park visitors every year. Donations to the Wildlife Protection Fund will be used to improve the Elk Grove Park Lake habitat, and protect the health and wellness of the wildlife that inhabits the park.
